About Julie

Julie Smith, MS, RDN

Hey There! I’m Julie, a registered dietitian who just loves helping uncover how to nourish themselves in a way that makes sense in their everyday lives.

Through my experience, I’ve found with so many supplements, diets, do this not that information out there, people come to me feeling overwhelmed and not sure what to do next.  Since we eat everyday I strive to provide support for all things dental nutrition.  So you can not only fuel your oral and overall health, but feel good and look forward to  what you’ll eat next too!

With all that being said.  I wanted to take a moment to share a bit about who I am and why I focus on things that nourish dental health:

My Dental Wellness Journey

I’ve struggled with my dental health for decades.  From sharp, shooting tooth pain as a pre-teen that ended up with my mom bringing me to the emergency room only to find I needed a root canal to getting cavities drilled and filled on the regular to gum surgery and many procedures in-between, it just felt like not matter how routinely I cared for my teeth and maintained good oral hygiene, I could never get my mouth’s well-being under control.  Any of this sound familiar?

As the years went on I tried to figure out what I could do to to not only improve the actual health of my teeth, but also improve the appearance and my confidence in my smile.  It felt like I tried everything from toothpastes, to toothbrushes, mouth washes, you name it I probably tried it.

Then, I decided to go back to school to become a registered dietitian.  After years of college nutrition and science classes, a master’s degree, practicum hours and many late nights studying I finally became a credential registered dietitian.

During all this training and studying I had my a-ha moment we eat every day perhaps there are specific nutrition-focus things I can implement that could help me go into my next dental visit with a better outcome?  Potentially less visits to the dentist, sign me up, right?

Why I Specialize In Dental Nutrition

Well, after my a-ha moment I went all in on all things dental nutrition.  I dove into the nutrition research, the science, and read book after book to figure out a nutritious lifestyle that made the sense for my day-to-day,  preferences and supported happy teeth.

I knew nutrition wouldn’t fix all my dental issues, but it would certainly alleviate a good chunk of them, plus it would help would improve my overall health too.  A true win-win!

While doing all this food and nutrition digging, I found there was a lot of information out there with little scientific backing put out by not-so-credible people.  Given my education and experience I just felt obliged to create Dental Meal Plans and provide you with a trusted place for all things dental nutrition.
